The term „robot cell“ belongs at home in the categories of automation, industry and Industry 4.0, as well as robots. It describes a defined area within a production hall where one or more robots automatically carry out specific tasks. A robot cell is usually equipped with safety devices to ensure people and machines are safely separated from each other.

For example, a robot cell can be used for welding car parts. While in earlier times people had to carry out the heavy and dangerous work, today this is often done fully automatically: one robot arm picks up a metal part, a second robot precisely welds the desired seam, and at the end, a third robot takes the finished component for the next step.

This allows work to be carried out faster, more uniformly and more safely. Companies use robot cells to increase quality, reduce costs and relieve employees of monotonous or dangerous tasks. Robot cells are therefore an important building block for modern, flexible and competitive production in Industry 4.0.
