The Saudi-led coalition has launched a comprehensive assault on the rebel-held port of Hodeidah in Yemen The coastal city is vital as most aid supplies for people in rebel-controlled regions arrive from here. Aid organisations have warned that the attack could disrupt these supply lines and endanger the lives of up to 200,000 people in the city. Across Yemen, eight million people are already at risk of starvation.
On Wednesday, coalition fighter jets and warships attacked fortifications in the city, while pro-government Yemeni fighters, along with troops from Sudan and the UAE, have gathered in the south.
