They are an important component of modern technologies and ensure that machines and processes function reliably even when conditions suddenly change or behave complexly.<\/p>\n<p>Unlike linear systems, which react according to fixed, simple rules, nonlinear control systems can also respond to unpredictable or \u201edisordered\u201c situations. They adapt their control flexibly rather than rigidly following a plan. This makes them particularly suitable for applications where many different factors come into play simultaneously.<\/p>\n<p>A vivid example is a self-driving robot in a factory. While a simple robot always turns in exactly the same way, a robot with non-linear control recognises when an obstacle appears \u2013 even if it wasn't programmed beforehand \u2013 and reacts to it.
