When Apple unveiled iOS 12, the upcoming version of its mobile operating system, at its annual developer conference two weeks ago, one of the most important new features was a set of tools called Screen Time<\/a>. Screen Time, which only a few weeks after the Announcement<\/a> similar features for Android devices Google<\/a> when it arrived on the market, includes activity reports, app limits and new \u201eDo Not Disturb\u201c and notification controls, and was designed to help users \u201ebetter understand and control the time they spend on apps and websites, how often they pick up their iPhone throughout the day, and how they receive notifications\u201c.
\nIn recent months, Apple<\/a> and other phone manufacturers, as well as social media companies, have repeatedly been urged to do their part in tackling the growing problem of excessive smartphone and internet use. While both Apple and Google have signalled their willingness to take responsibility for this issue, consumers believe that they must change their potentially unhealthy habits themselves. According to a Morning Consult<\/a> The survey found that 74 per cent of adults in the USA believe that consumers are responsible for solving the problem of smartphone addiction, while only 9 per cent think that technology companies are to blame.
