California is in first place with a massive $106.8 billion, followed by Texas with $67.3 billion. However, when looking at debt per capita, it paints a different picture: Alaska is in first place. This is according to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.osc.state.ny.us\/reports\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Numbers<\/a> before, the Office of the New York State Comptroller <a href=\"http:\/\/www.osc.state.ny.us\/reports\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">published<\/a> hat.<br \/>\nAt the end of last year, the average Alaskan resident had a credit card balance of $4,270, over $1,000 more than the national average of $3,100. New Jersey is the second-worst state for credit card debt at $3,910 per capita, while Hawaii comes in third at $3,860.
