Even if friends, as Cicero called them, significantly increase the reach of personal, albeit indirect, contact with voters in political marketing and election campaign management, the number of voters who can be recruited through personal political advertising and planned for in election campaign management remains very small. The entire Roman Empire had around 10 million fewer inhabitants than live in Germany today.<\/p>\n<p>Sophisticated political advertising is essential if political marketing is to achieve sufficient publicity and reach today. The crisis of democracy is partly due to the fact that mistakes or at least inadequacies of any politician spread much faster than counterstatements can do. Thus, even the misinterpretation of the tiniest gesture or single word can destroy a politician's reputation in a very short space of time and further exacerbate the crisis of democracy through mistrust of politics.<\/p>\n<p>News of details worthy of criticism, or even major mistakes, spreads throughout the country within minutes, or within a day at the latest. However, this does not happen through word of mouth, as in ancient Rome, but through the media. However, as reporters, editors and journalists are only human, they are only capable of interpreting given facts subjectively. Their image of you as a politician already forms an opinion, which is then quickly disseminated in the news, daily newspapers, social networks and blogs.<\/p>\n<p>With this preconceived opinion, which is supposedly presented to the voters objectively, even the most sophisticated campaign management and the best political advertising is no longer of any use to you, as the voters' decision has already been made. Such defamation of you as an otherwise good and honest politician, which is completely unintentional even through misinterpretation, will only exacerbate the crisis of democracy. In order to counteract a false impression of you in advance, a large presence in the media and especially political marketing on the Internet is particularly important. Political marketing on the Internet gives you the opportunity to act at a similar speed to your critics and to publish counter-statements before the masses get the wrong impression of you. Political marketing and campaign management, ideally through online political marketing, must present reporters, journalists and editors with positive content that can be disseminated. Even if the Internet is omnipresent, political marketing on the Internet will not reach every single voter.<\/p>\n<p>Political advertising in the media, as it is often known from election adverts on television, can also be used directly to enable voters to form an impression of you. By directly involving the media in your political marketing, you therefore have the opportunity to achieve what was much easier in historical times through personal contact: your voters.
