The sport's biggest event, the FIFA World Cup, held every four years, is one of the biggest sporting events in the world and is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.statista.com\/chart\/14221\/global-tv-reach-of-sporting-events\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Only surpassed by the Olympic Games<\/a>, which is its nearly universal reach.<\/p>\n<p>According to FIFA, 3.2 billion people watched at least one minute of the World Cup broadcast on television in 2014 \u2013 a figure likely to be surpassed at this year's tournament in Russia.
