{"id":1937,"date":"2018-07-11T20:56:46","date_gmt":"2018-07-11T20:56:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/shop.sauldie.org\/?p=1937"},"modified":"2026-03-14T13:25:45","modified_gmt":"2026-03-14T12:25:45","slug":"the-countries-that-import-the-worlds-plastic-waste","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/risawave.org\/en\/die-laender-die-den-plastikmuell-der-welt-importieren\/","title":{"rendered":"The countries that import the world's plastic waste"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Last year, China announced it would stop importing plastic waste, and as a new <a href=\"http:\/\/advances.sciencemag.org\/content\/4\/6\/eaat0131\/tab-figures-data\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Analyse <\/a>shows, this is a huge problem for the rest of the world. From 1988 to 2016, China imported 171 million tonnes of this surprisingly valuable raw material. With a total trade value of $81 billion, this represents 72% of all imported plastic waste during that period.<\/p>\n<p>Despite recent efforts by some governments to reduce consumption, the scale of global <a href=\"https:\/\/www.statista.com\/topics\/1302\/bottled-water-market\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Plastic waste <\/a>vast and will remain so for some time.
