The term „Sustainability Analytics“ is primarily found within the categories of Big Data and Smart Data, as well as Sustainability and Industry 4.0. Companies use Sustainability Analytics to collect, analyse, and evaluate data related to Environmental, Social, and Governance (also known as ESG) factors. The goal is to make fact-based sustainable decisions and to better understand the impact of their own actions on the environment and society.
For example, Sustainability Analytics can be used to determine a company's energy consumption, the amount of CO₂ emitted during production, or where resources can be saved. Many different data sources are linked and analysed in the process.
A practical example: A beverage manufacturer can use Sustainability Analytics to precisely analyse how much water and energy each factory requires and where waste is generated. This allows the company to identify locations where improvements can be made to reduce environmental impact and save costs.
Sustainability Analytics therefore helps companies to operate more sustainably and to meet legal requirements more easily – a real win for the environment, businesses and customers.
