Compassion makes you strong: Doing good together in the Neflental
The Neflental is brilliant again. The sun shines golden and warm. A sapphire-blue sky stretches over the valley. Emerald-green meadows glow. The crystal lake sparkles as if someone had scattered a thousand dancing sparks of fire upon it.
Today, Rosa Immergrün is heading to the water lily bay. There the water laps gently and shimmers. The large, round leaves of the water lilies sway gently in the wind. White blossoms stretch towards the light. Colourful fish swim under the leaves. Dragonflies hover over the water with glittering wings. It is peaceful.
Rosa Immergrün notices that many people from Neflental have come to Crystal Lake. They are wearing colourful clothes in sunshine yellow, coral red and emerald green. Today they are celebrating Glanzhoch, the great summer festival. By the shore, people are sitting by the campfire, enjoying sweet berries. Lanterns gently rise into the twilight, bathing everything in warm light.
A call for help with shine.
Suddenly, Rosa Alwaysgreen pays attention. Two Flossians are calling for help. They wave excitedly and point to the water. A small Alwaysgreen is stranded at the edge of the water lily bay. He is holding on to a leaf. He doesn't dare to go back to the shore alone.
Rosa Immergrün immediately understands that compassion is important now. She calls for support and runs to the water. Some revellers and Flossians also come and form a chain of helping hands. Together they offer Immergrün a piece of wood. Rosa Immergrün kindly encourages him not to be afraid. Together they pull him ashore.
No sooner is the little periwinkle safe, than everyone claps. The little gnome laughs with relief, and his face beams with joy. Rosa Periwinkle kneels beside him and speaks soothingly. She knows how important compassion is. Only together can they do good.
Together instead of alone
Around the campfire, the villagers share their stories. Many recount how they have helped. A Buchian tells how he brought wood to the Bergsteins in winter. Flossians say they give shelter to animals during storms. Rosa Immergrün listens and praises how brave and kind everyone is.
A girl gives her a pebble painted coral red. On it is written: “With compassion, you are strong.” Rosa Immergrün thanks her and explains: “Together, we can make the Neflental a better place. Everyone who helps makes our valley stronger.”
The lanterns continue to rise into the night sky. The light reflects on the water of the water lily bay. Music plays softly. Rosa Immergrün sits with friends – old and new – by the campfire. They smile, knowing that doing good feels right.
What do we learn from this?
Compassion makes you strong. You never have to manage everything alone. Helping others in the Neflental helps you grow too. Doing good together creates bonds. Together, you can achieve great things. In the heart of the valley, it's not how big you are that counts, but how big your heart is.
