Civic courage in the Neflental: A brave story

The glittering high point is dawning in the Neflental. The sun shines strongly, bathing everything in golden light. Many residents are meeting on the large summer plateau. Everywhere along the riverbank, cheerful groups are sitting around small campfires. Lanterns float gently in the warm air. The colours gleam: sun-gold, sapphire blue, coral red and emerald green shimmer everywhere. Everyone is looking forward to a big celebration.

Rosa Evergreen discovers the Ice Rose Garden

On the edge of the plateau stands the mysterious Ice Rose Garden. In it grow rose blossoms that look as if they were made of glass. A layer of ice covers each flower. Many think they cannot touch the flowers because they are too fragile. However, Rosa Immergrün watches as children carefully creep around the roses.

Suddenly, a shout rings out. Someone is calling for help. Rosa Immergrün quickly runs towards the voice. She sees a little boy slipping in the rose garden. He is lying on the ground. The other children are just watching. They seem unsettled because they are afraid the delicate ice layers might break.

To help, even when you're scared

Rosa Immergrün runs faster. Without hesitation, she leaps between the icy roses. The blossoms clink, but Rosa does not flinch. She calls out to the children, telling them not to be afraid. Together, they can help! So, two more children dare to enter the sparkle of the ice-rose garden. Together, they help the boy back to his feet. He laughs with relief. Nothing is broken, neither ice nor courage.

The group's joy grows. They realise they are strong together. The helpers fetch warm blankets from the campfire. Someone offers the boy a glass of water. The younger ones talk about how proud they are of Rosa Immergrün. They are pleased with how she helped despite her fear. Everyone feels the importance of not just standing by, but bravely intervening.

Shine Bright – The Warmth of Courage and Friendship

In the light of the grand festival, not only flowers but also brave hearts now shine. The sun shines even warmer, as if it itself enjoys how the residents stick together. On the shimmering riverbank, the children continue to tell their story. They explain to the adults how proud they are of their courage.

From that day on, more residents in the Neflental dared to help others. They knew that civil courage meant not looking away. It is important to be brave, even when you are afraid. Rosa Immergrün reminds everyone of this. Throughout the valley, they tell the story of the ice rose garden and the small group that showed how powerful help is.

What do we learn from this?

If someone is in trouble, we should not wait. It is brave to help, even when we are afraid. Sometimes, a small step is enough. Together, we are much stronger. Who helps others, brings light into everyone's lives. Civic courage grows when we trust each other and support one another. In Neflental, every day shows how beautiful courage can be.
