Sie sind eine wichtige technische Entwicklung, weil sie Maschinen und Roboter viel flexibler und sicherer machen.<\/p>\n<p>Ein Variable Stiffness Actuator ist ein spezieller Motor oder Antrieb, der seine Steifigkeit ver\u00e4ndern kann. Steifigkeit bedeutet, wie sehr sich ein Antrieb gegen \u00e4u\u00dfere Kr\u00e4fte \u201ewehrt\u201c. Durch die Ver\u00e4nderung der Steifigkeit kann der Roboter entweder sehr stabil und kr\u00e4ftig oder besonders nachgiebig und sicher arbeiten. Das ist wichtig, wenn Roboter mit Menschen zusammenarbeiten oder empfindliche Aufgaben erledigen.<\/p>\n<p>Ein einfaches Beispiel: Ein Roboterarm, der mit Variable Stiffness Actuators ausgestattet ist, kann schwere Autoteile heben (dabei ist er steif und stabil) und im n\u00e4chsten Moment vorsichtig eine Glasscheibe halten (dabei ist er flexibel und sanft).
